It is often said that people find greater fulfilment from the places they go and experiences had –opposed to things accumulated. A new service, Side Tour, is hoping to prove this with exclusive, intimate events around New York and Austin for SXSW.
A quick glance at SideTour.com feels a bit like Groupon but as you dig deeper, you will find each “authentic” event follows a calendar with limited bookable places (normally under 10) to spend time with an expert/host. This month’s options range from “coaching from an Olympic medalist” down the Lake Placid luge track ($150) to a dinner with a “Banker-Turned-Monk” at an East Village monastery ($20) and a private concert by a virtuoso pianist in his studio ($75).
