At this point the floating utopia is only a design concept but many are saying it is completely feasible.
Italian designer Michele Puzzolante is working to change the face of resort and marina living. His Solar Floating Resort (SFR) is “covered completely in a photovoltaic skin, the resort is 100% self-sufficient and non-polluting. On top of that, the floating palace is actually a modular system that divides into much smaller components that can be moved and assembled almost anywhere.”
Puzzolante promises a seven star expereince on the SFR, as it is comparable to a luxury yacht and suite, “with a fully submerged observation bulb because the majority of people are fascinated by watching and photographing exotic fishes, dolphins, sharks and marine turtle.”
The current concept is 20m, sleeps six with a “large kitchen, dining area, lounge area and pilot room complete the 110 m2 interior layout, treated in the purest Italian style. The teak deck is set up with a large semicircular lounge/dining area, six individual day beds and a six places Jacuzzi. The most distinctive feature is its fully submerged observation bulb. It’s like a tourist submarine with a thick glass enclosure that provides a 360 degrees view.”
