World’s priciest city…three times more than NYC
The soaring cost of cars and utilities as well as a strong currency have made Singapore the world’s most expensive city, toppling Tokyo from the top spot. Tokyo‘s weakening yen saw it slide to sixth place, in the 2014 Worldwide Cost of Living survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). “Singapore’s rising price prominence has been steady rather than spectacular,” said a report accompanying the survey by the research firm. A luxurious mountain resort in Park City, Utah — the training ground for professional winter athletes in the US — is offering private skating lessons with an Olympic speed skater who moonlights as a hotel valet. Guests staying at the Waldorf Astoria Park City are being offered private two-hour skating lessons with Olympian Patrick Meek, member of the US National Speed Skating Team competing at Sochi.
