MADE IN CHINA WINES TOP BORDEAUX

China has outranked France in wine, says a jury of tasters. All the wines in the bind taste testing were produced in 2008 or 2009. The Chinese wines came from the northwestern region Ningxia and were priced between 200-400 yuan ($30-$60). The top performing wine was a 2009 cabernet sauvignon from the Grace Vineyard in Ningxia while the top ranking French wine took fifth place, a 2009 Medoc from the Lafite vineyard in Bordeaux. According to Luxuo, Bordeaux expert Nathalie Sibille said the Chinese wines had “performed very, very well”, adding, “this region (Ningxia) has enormous potential”. The go-to reservation booking site OpenTable.com has announced the top 100 eats from 34 states in the United States for 2011. The restaurants were selected as the “Best Overall” by culling ten million restaurant reviews. California and North Carolina, tied for first place with ten ‘winning’ restaurants on the list each, and New York came in second with seven. Some of the top eats include Canlis in Seattle, Barbara Lynch’s Menton in Boston, ElevenMadisonPark in NYC and John Besh’s Restaurant August in New Orleans.
