As summer draws to a close, the kids are back in school, the U.S. Open is over, the NFL playing for real (with TWO Monday night games) and anti-hedge fund rhetoric is everywhere. All the pundits seem to be over the top with joy that the funds were hit badly by the volatility that hammered global markets. Headline after headline screams about the weak performance of great and not-so-great names in the upheaval. Three words for success

It’s clear to me why some people are successful and others aren’t: focus, delegation and engagement. People need to be focused to be able to see the path, or least the way to the path, to success. They also need to be able to delegate responsibility and to know how to relate to colleagues and keep them engaged. I believe that most companies aren’t able to keep employees, partners and colleagues focused and have a very difficult time delegating.
