SWATCH ACQUIRES SOME BLING WITH USD1 BILLION

The world’s leading watchmaker, Swatch, said on Mondayis to acquire Harry Winston, US-based jeweller and watchmaker, for up to USD 1 billion (750 million euros). The Swiss group will pay $750 million to acquire the company and add a maximum of $250 million to take over its net debt, according to the company’s statement. Swatch plans to acquire the Harry Winston brand and all the activities related to its jewelry and watches business, as well as 535 of its employees worldwide. From Dubai to Las Vegas, London and Zhengzhou, China, restaurants catering to a female-only clientele are becoming increasingly popular the world over. The latest eatery to cater to the fair sex is set to open next month in London’s Soho area. According to The London Evening Standard, Sofakingcool on Frith Street will reopen as KC’z Bar on February 1 as a women’s-only restaurant. Though details are sparse, the manager told the paper that the bar isn’t about banning men, but about “putting what women want first” and about networking.
