From Algeria to Vietnam, Saveur magazine has released a list of 55 “must-read” food blogs to follow, written from every corner of the world.
\nMany of the blogs are written in English and helmed by English-speaking expats living abroad and documenting their epicurean adventures.<\/p>\n
EatingAsia, for example, is helmed by an American husband-and-wife team living in Malaysia: wife Robyn Eckhardt writes the text, while husband David Hagerman shoots the photos. Posts focus on street food and authentic local fare. Eckhardt is also a prolific travel and food writer for The New York Times, Food & Wine and Saveur.<\/p>\n
Though the list is sprinkled with a host of the usual suspects — popular bloggers like Australia’s What Katie Ate, as well as France’s Chocolate and Zucchini and David Lebovitz — it also provides links to blogs from unexpected places and cuisines.<\/p>\n
AZcookbook.com, for instance, is written by a woman living in California who hails originally from Azerbaijan which lies north of Iran. Foods are a mix of traditional Azerbaijani — some of which are old family recipes — and contemporary American dishes collected from cookbooks and magazines. Azerbaijani recipes include stuffed grape leaves or Yarpag Dolmasi, a staple on any Azerbaijani table, and Dushbere, a traditional meat-filled dumpling soup.<\/p>\n
Other blogs from unexpected places include Palachinkablog.com from Serbia and Nyam Penh from Cambodia.<\/p>\n
